On March 16, 2018, Columbia County Sheriff's Office received information about a woman who had lost her baby after she and her fiance got into a physical altercation. The victim, Jennifer Lopez Garcia, came and spoke with investigators. It was determined that she lost her baby after her fiance hit her. A warrant was issued for her fiance, identified as Eduardo Rivera-Murillo, after all information was gathered pertaining to the case on March 16. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office used the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service. They found him in Maryland, and Rivera-Murillo was arrested on April 10. Rivera-Murillo is currently detained in the Columbia County Detention Facility with no bond awaiting first appearance. He also has a detainer from ICE.
