Topic Tuesday - Happy Thanksgiving!

11/21/2023

TOPIC TUESDAY

This week's topic is Thanksgiving safety. There will be many people traveling to spend time with family and friends, so please be cautious on the road. Wear your seatbelt, don't drink and drive, slow down and stay alert while behind the wheel. Watch for extra traffic and parked cars in residential areas. Be sure to take proper precautions for cooking your meals this holiday. If you're frying a turkey, please do not do it inside. Make sure the turkey is thawed, and please don't catch your kitchen on fire. Be sure to have a fire extinguisher available for any small fires and remember not to put water on a grease fire. Grease fires must be smothered out or use a fire extinguisher. Also, make sure you know the signs of choking and how to do the Heimlich maneuver to help a choking victim. During this time, we want everyone to be festive, but also be safe. Please watch your alcohol consumption. Try to avoid arguments at the dinner table or at your gathering. Our administrative offices will be closed both Thursday and Friday this holiday, but our jail will be open. Deputies will be available 24 hours a day for emergency and non-emergency calls.

Thanksgiving is a time to be with family, and a time of thankfulness and gratefulness. We hope you and your family and friends have a great and safe Thanksgiving!
