Topic Tuesday

This week's topic is inmate commissary. If you or someone you know has a loved one incarcerated at our facility, we offer commissary for inmates. Commissary orders are filled on Sundays and Wednesdays. Items available for purchase on commissary include brand name toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant and body soap, comb/brush, and chapstick. Commissary also includes clothing items, playing cards, dominoes and other games, snacks, and miscellaneous food products. Snacks and food products vary from month to month. Indigent items are passed out on Sundays only. Indigent items include toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, soap, paper, an envelope and a stamp. These items will not be brand name like what is on commissary. Other items available for purchase through commissary are $10/$20 phone cards, flavored snuff, and hot trays. Hot tray days are Monday (hamburger, cheeseburger, fries), Wednesday (chicken strips and fries), and Friday (crispitos, pizza sticks). If someone wanted to drop off a money order for an inmate to purchase any of these commissary items, there is a black box outside the business office here at the sheriff's office. The black box is checked daily, but commissary receipts are printed Wednesday and Friday evenings for inmates to be able to purchase items on commissary days. Our office hopes this topic was informative about inmate commissary.
