After the Newtown, Connecticut, school incident Sheriff Mike Loe met with the Emerson/Taylor Superintendent Gary Hines to put a plan of action in place for a faster response time in the event something of this nature should happen at either school campus. A plan was drafted and presented to Columbia County Attorney Becky Jones. Following, a meeting was held in Springhill, Louisiana, with Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton, Chief Will Lynd, and Claiborne Parish Sheriff Ken Bailey to discuss a plan where their agencies would respond to any school situation at both Taylor/Emerson schools. Sheriff Mike Loe also agreed that the Columbia County Sheriff's Office would respond to any school incident in Webster and Claiborne Parishes. We hope that this plan that has been put into place will offer more security and a shorter response time in the event that a situation should arise at any school campus.
