On December 1, 2017, around 13:30, Columbia County deputies went to 1919 Columbia Road 45. While at the residence, deputies noticed what appeared to be a large marijuana manufacturing project. During the execution of a search warrant, deputies found Kevin Calvin and Jeffrey Belcastro in the residence, 17.5 oz. of cultivated marijuana, and various paraphernalia related to growing marijuana. Deputies also found 239 plants in a barn behind the residence. The plants were in various stages of growth and planted in containers of various sizes with growing lights and potting soil. The plants and marijuana were seized and taken to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and placed in evidence. Deputies arrested Kevin Calvin, 53 of McNeil, and Jeffrey Belcastro, 27 of Las Vegas, NV, and charged them with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance- Schedule VI (marijuana) and Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule VI (marijuana). Both had first appearances on December 5, and bond was set at $100,000 for each suspect. The investigation is ongoing and possible suspects are being investigated.
