Scam Press Release

09/15/2014

Scammers are continuously attempting to acquire bank account numbers, debit card numbers, social security numbers, or money in general. Our department has received several calls about a grandchild being in custody and needing bail money. Please verify that the person is in custody before sending money or giving any information. We have also received calls about owing the IRS thousands of dollars, and that it is necessary to set up a payment plan. If you call the number back, it says “You have won a free cruise.” Always be cautious about who you give your information to, especially over the phone or internet. We do not want you to be a victim of a scam.

If you believe you have been a victim of a scam, please contact your local law enforcement.
